March 2025
An Exhibition of Art by
St. Johnsbury School
2nd and 3rd Grades
The art is based on Lindsey Pointer and Stella Mongodi’s book Wally and Freya. Athenaeum Children’s Librarian Becky Hatfield partnered with 2nd and 3rd grade classes at St. Johnsbury School to read and make art on themes of restorative justice, the theme of the book.
St. Johnsbury School counselors were also involved in the project. Morgan Sulham, Grades 3-5 School Counselor, said the children applied real-life scenarios to the lessons they learned in the book. “This project highlights our students’ amazing creativity.”
Dawn Aguirre, Grades K-2 School Counselor, said that restorative justice teaches friendship and kindness. “This is an important time in the lives of these children. We want them to know that what they do matters.”
